What the day will look like

In this role, you will act as a Consultant, offering technical implementation assistance to senior leadership across Life Advisory and Life Capital Advisory on a broad array of life capital advisory, Bermuda-centered projects, and PathWise® implementations.

  • Develop, operate, and analyze actuarial and financial models to assist life capital solutions, M&A and block transactions, reinsurance structures, and capital optimization analyses.
  • Deliver actuarial consulting and modeling support on PathWise® implementation projects, assisting clients in designing, testing, and validating modern modeling frameworks that meet their regulatory and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups (capital advisory, actuarial, technology, and reinsurance) to transform complex actuarial and capital concepts into robust, production-quality models and analyses.
  • Work within a North American life actuarial team focusing on Life Advisory and PathWise solutions. Success depends on delivering high-quality technical work, assisting senior leaders in securing and completing projects, and contributing to combined advisory and technology solutions for life and annuity clients.

Technical Implementation for Life Capital Advisory & Transactions

  • Develop and sustain actuarial and financial models to assess cash flows, reserves, capital needs, and transaction economics.
  • Carry out valuation, scenario and sensitivity analyses, and providing embedded value/appraisal value assistance under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Prepare clear, well-documented model output, reports, and presentations to assist client decision-making.
  • Assist in analyzing the impact of alternative deal structures, reinsurance arrangements, and capital strategies on client balance sheets, earnings, and solvency metrics.

Bermuda-Focused Capital & Actuarial Support

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Life Advisory – Bermuda to support the modeling and analysis required for Bermuda-centered capital and reinsurance solutions, including the impact on BSCR and related measures.
  • Participate in actuarial and capital calculations applied in Bermuda regulatory and reporting support, including BSCR-related projections, stress tests, and capital adequacy analyses.
  • Help integrate Bermuda-specific assumptions, regulatory requirements, and capital metrics into broader advisory and transaction models.
  • Assist with documentation and working papers supporting Bermuda regulatory, actuarial, and capital analyses, in collaboration with local and North American teams.

Actuarial Consulting Support for PathWise® Implementations

  • Offer actuarial and technical modeling assistance on PathWise® implementations for life and annuity clients.
  • Translate existing actuarial models, assumptions, and methodologies (e.g., Prophet, Axis, MoSes, custom tools) into PathWise® frameworks.
  • Build, test, and validate PathWise® models for valuation, capital, ALM, hedging, and regulatory reporting uses.
  • Develop and accomplish test plans, reconciliations, and model validation exercises to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Collaborate with PathWise® developers, architects, and senior actuaries to optimize model design, workflows, methodologies, and business processes.
  • Prepare model documentation, user guides, and training materials to assist client adoption and internal knowledge sharing.

Analytics, Tools & Process Improvement

  • Develop and enhance standard tools, templates, and code libraries (within PathWise® and other platforms) to improve the efficiency and consistency of advisory and implementation work.
  • Contribute to automation, quality control, and model governance initiatives, including version control, peer review processes, and coding standards.
  • Assist in developing internal guidelines and knowledge assets for life capital modeling, Bermuda regulatory analytics, and PathWise® implementations.

Client & Internal Collaboration

  • Participate in client meetings (virtual and in-person) to gather requirements and clarify technical issues.
  • Present modeling approaches and results in a clear, understandable way.
  • Assist senior team members in responding to detailed technical and actuarial questions.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across teams and practices to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Technical and Modeling Skills
  • Strong actuarial modeling skills, including building, debugging, and maintaining projection and valuation models.
  • Implementing assumption changes, new products, and new methodologies.
  • Performing and interpreting sensitivities, scenario testing, and reconciliations.
  • Life and annuity offerings (such as term, whole life, universal life, fixed and variable annuities, indexed products, pension/retirement products).
  • Capital and solvency concepts (e.g., RBC, economic capital, stress testing) and/or Bermuda BSCR is a plus.
