Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Instructional Support and Resources Center as a Front Desk Assistant on the Armstrong Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
Support:
  • Provides excellent customer service for visitors
  • Provides level 1 (basic) technical support for students, faculty and staff
  • Provides assistance with video editing and other technology needs to COE students
  • Sets up projectors, mics, laptops for meetings on request
  • Records classes or events in the COE on request

Maintenance:
  • Restocks teaching supplies
  • Keeps labs and library area maintained and tidy
  • Submits paper/toner requests, tech support tickets, work order tickets as needed
  • Reset tablets and electronic equipment - wipe user info and files
  • Installs apps on tablets/carts on request

Library:
  • Checks out books and technology resources
  • Restocks books, equipment, and devices
  • Updates mobile devices on schedule
  • Adds new resources to library
  • Maintains library records via Destiny software

Clerical:
  • Answers telephone calls
  • Reserves labs and resources for instructors
  • Keeps daily inventory and task sheets

Shift Specifics -
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
  • Prior library and instructional technology experience (Google Apps and mobile devices)
  • Basic video editing skills (trim,convert, minor edits)
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Experience researching and answering common technology related questions
  • Experience working independently without supervision
  • Customer service skills

Proposed Salary
$10.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
