Role: Onsite Golf Pro Shop Manager
Location: Indian Lake Estates, FL
Community: Indian Lake Estates
Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 per year (depending on education and experience)
Job Type: Full Time
Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required to support community events. The Pro Shop Manager will work 40 hours a week from December – April, with a minimum of 5 working days. 32 minimum hours a week from May – November is required to maintain full-time status and benefits.

Community Summary
Indian Lake Estates (ILE) is a large, planned rural residential and commercial gated community with more than 7500 acres and 700 residences. The community includes fishing, boating, golfing and country club activities along with postal, church, dining, pier, and lake front facilities.
The Corporation employs a staff in the Office, Restaurant, Pro Shop, Golf course and Roads & Grounds maintenance. Social events, Library, and cultural activities are voluntarily run and managed by Community volunteers. These volunteers contribute to the enjoyment of life in our Community. We have well-established Clubs and Groups and there is always room for new ones!
Volunteers also make up the Board of Directors and the various Committees that guide the professional staff and oversee the workings of the Corporation. Everything from Finance Committee to Beautification is managed by committees who make recommendations to the Board in its policy-making role. Board Members and community members work together in these committees which meet at least once a month.
We are located approximately 15 miles east of Frostproof, FL and 17 miles south-east of Lake Wales, FL, at the intersection of SR 60 and CR 630, close to the southeastern tip of Polk County. The Cape Kennedy Spaceport is 55 miles to our east. Orlando, with its internationally renowned family focused Disney World, is 45 miles to our north-east. The crystal white beaches of Florida’s gulf coast and Tampa Bay are an hour drive due west. We are the very heart of “Central Florida” far from its maddening crowds but close to the best of everything.
Role Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Pro Shop Manager are to drive golf shop revenue through merchandising, promotions, and sales, while delivering exceptional customer service and positive staff morale. This role ensures an organized, and well-stocked shop, maximizes profitability, and leads a team that supports daily golf operations and enhances the overall golf experience.
Pro Shop Hours
- Opening Time: Year Round 6:30 am start for employees, with the shop opening at 6:45 am to ensure golfers can tee off at 7 am. This start time may be pushed back in the winter time slightly due to daylight hours.
- Closing Time: In order to maximize play during daylight hours, the pro shop hours will adjust based on sunset time.
- Winter: 4 pm
- Spring, Summer & Fall: 5 pm close
- Rain: During times of inclement weather, the shop will close only when rain is predicted for the remainder of daylight hours OR if the golf course superintendent deems the course unplayable due to flooding. There may be times when rain is predicted in the middle of the day for a few hours. In this case, the pro shop may close for this rainy period of time, but should be prepared to reopen once the rain has stopped. All rain closing procedures must be completed before departing.
Responsibilities
Revenue Growth Goals
- Drive golf shop sales through effective merchandising, displays, promotions, and product selection. Increase product offerings by 200% over the next 6 months
- Maximize revenue per round and average transaction value through upselling and cross-selling
- Recruit and schedule groups and tournaments that maximize golfer throughput and fills days of slow business. Balance daily players in conjunction with groups and tournaments
- Build a pipeline of new partnerships with golf groups and nonprofit organizations to increase profits
- Monitor sales performance of merchandise and services, margins, and inventory to ensure profitability
- Partner with new and current vendors for pricing, and product opportunities that increase revenue
- Management of consignment sales, including advertising and tracking in G1
- Coordinate with restaurant manager to offer specials on food and drink in conjunction with golf play
- Create advertising campaigns and promotions to increase profits
Customer Service
- Deliver an exceptional experience for every member and guest
- Lead by example—greet, engage, and assist customers on the daily with positivity
- Train staff to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and proactive service
- Resolve customer concerns quickly, calmly, and professionally
Shop Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing golf shop
- Update product displays to create an inviting and customer-focused retail environment
- Execute product displays and merchandising that drive sales
- Choose new products and impulse buys that increase sales
- Oversee daily operations including POS, opening/closing, and cash handling
- Oversee golf cart preparation for guests, as well as cart maintenance and usage
- Manage golfer records and memberships within G1
Inventory Management
- Maintain proper inventory levels and strong product mix
- Track sales trends and adjust ordering to improve turnover and margins
- Conduct monthly inventory counts and ensure accuracy with inventory tracking system
Team Leadership
- Hire, train, and develop a service- and sales-driven team
- Recruit, train, develop, and encourage service focused volunteers
- Set clear expectations for performance and customer service
- Schedule staff effectively based on business needs
