Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for aLibrary Technician 3at theDeLaMareLibrary, part of University Libraries. ***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. *** The Library Technician 3 serves as a key member of theDeLaMareLibrary team, providing advanced library operations support, coordinating workflows, and delivering high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community users.
This positionis responsible forperforming complex library support functions related to access, circulation, collections, resource management, and user services. This position willassistwith the day-to-day operations of theDeLaMareLibrary, train and oversee employees, troubleshoot library service issues,maintainlibrary records and systems, and support library initiatives that enhance access to resources and services.Additionalduties may include coordinating projects, compiling reports,assistingwith collection maintenance activities, and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience in a library or other cultural heritage institution, including two years of technical level experience performing duties such as copy cataloging, acquisitions, electronic resource management; and/or organizing, curating and accessing government publications; OR
One (1) year of experience as aLibrary Technician 2in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with one or more of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
Experience working in an academic, science, engineering, or research library environment.
Experience coordinating library workflows and daily operations.
Experience training, leading, or supervising employees.
Experience using integrated library systems (ILS), particularly Alma.
Experience providing circulation, access services, or public service support.
Experience with collection maintenance, resource management, inventory projects, or technical services functions.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
Experience working with faculty, researchers, and students in a higher education setting.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 31
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
