Job description

Description: Responsible for physical processing of materials cataloged for The Tianjin Juilliard School Library in Tianjin, China. Working out of the NY Office for TJS, the incumbent will handle a range of library technical services to process materials for the Tianjin Juilliard School in Tianjin, China.
Responsibilities:
  • Sewing scores into binders and physically processing materials (applying due date slips, barcodes, and security strips, marking call numbers, etc.).
  • Assist with preparation of all designated materials for commercial binder.
  • Maintain inventory of binding and processing supplies; prepare lists of needed items.
  • Manage vendor orders for needed materials.
  • Assist with miscellaneous special projects, as required.
  • Prepare and revise procedure manuals and related documentation, as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the School and department operations.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in music.
  • Previous library experience.
  • Knowledge of classical music, including the ability to read music.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Aptitude and affinity for physical processing of library materials.
  • Strong commitment to library service.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication (including active listening) skills
  • The successful candidate must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, and administrators) with diplomacy and tact
  • Understanding of the values and mission of The Juilliard School
