About the Position
The Assistant Technical Designer will aid the Technical Design Lead in developing and creating high quality, well-fitting apparel. This includes the responsibility to interpret concepts into a technical package with complete information regarding fitting, sizing, grading, garment specifications and construction that correctly execute the intent of the Fashion Designer for the merchandise. The Assistant Technical Designer will assist in leading fit sessions and fit garments with the Technical Design lead as well as provide fit recommendations and solutions to issues. They will support the development of a library of established fit blocks. Performance in this position is measured by achieving total company net sales targets, lowering the return rate in the e-commerce full price business, along with contributing to the department goals.
A day in the life...
  • Translating the intent of Fashion Design into technical design specification packages (tech packs)

  • Conducting fittings with guidance

  • Reviewing and Analyzing Garment construction

  • Pattern making and size grading.

  • Taking notes during fittings and other meetings.

  • Measuring garments with accuracy.

  • Pre-Fitting of all samples prior to fitting on the model.

  • Evaluate samples to ensure they meet grading, tolerance, and safety standards.

  • Technical Flat sketching

  • Spend time reviewing merchandise through e-commerce and retail channels to understand the customers' feedback regarding fit and construction.

  • Must have comfort working within The Lilly Pulitzer® Product Development calendar, meeting all required deadlines.

  • Communicates clearly and concisely.

  • Accountable for adhering to all processes, procedures, and standards.

  • Meet all assigned dates in the Lilly Pulitzer® Product Development Calendar

Qualifications for the Position
  • A four-year college degree is required, preferably with a major/minor in Fashion Design.

  • 1-2 years of Technical Design experience, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.

  • Must have proficiency and comfort in the use of technology to support Technical Design. This includes:

  • The Centric® PLM System. Training will be provided.

  • The Pattern Design System Module of Accumark®. Training will be provided.

  • The Adobe Suite of software including Illustrator and Acrobat.

  • Basic computer skills, such as Outlook®, Word®, and Excel® in a Microsoft Windows®

  • This position is required to maintain a structured hybrid work schedule based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. This hybrid schedule, which includes work done in the King of Prussia Office as well as your Home Office will be determined by your supervisor.
