The Technical Design Assistant supports the Technical Design team throughout the product development process, from initial development through production. This role assists with garment fit, construction, pattern development, and technical documentation while gaining hands-on experience across assigned product categories.
Responsibilities include maintaining development records, processing samples, supporting fit sessions, updating technical specifications, and assisting with seasonal development milestones. This is an entry-level opportunity designed to build the technical skills and industry knowledge needed to progress into an Associate Technical Designer role.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Technical Design team in managing seasonal product development activities.
  • Receive, organize, track, and process fit samples throughout development.
  • Maintain development tracking reports, sample logs, fit trackers, and work-in-progress documentation.
  • Prepare garments and supporting materials for fit sessions.
  • Attend fit sessions, record fit comments, and document next steps.
  • Assist with measuring garments and comparing measurements to specifications.
  • Update fit comments, specifications, and technical information in Centric PLM.
  • Maintain pattern libraries, specification libraries, and fit reference standards.
  • Organize category samples, mock-ups, trims, and technical development materials.
  • Support adherence to development calendars and critical milestone dates.
  • Build a foundational understanding of fit evaluation, garment construction, and pattern development.
  • Gain exposure to Browzwear and digital product creation workflows.
  • Partner with Technical Designers, Product Development, Design, and Production teams to support product execution.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
  • Basic knowledge of garment measurements and apparel construction.
  • Ability to learn PLM systems and technical processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or coursework in Apparel Design, Technical Design, Product Development, Patternmaking, or related field preferred.
  • Internship or prior apparel industry experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of garment measurements and apparel construction preferred.
