Job Summary/Nature of work:ย 

Durham College and Ontario Tech UniversityLibrary invite applications for a Part-Time Liaison Librarian (24 hours perweek). This temporary appointment offers an exciting opportunity to contributeto student success, teaching excellence, and research support within acollaborative academic environment. The end date of the contract is October2027.

Working alongside a team of librarians andlibrary technicians, the successful candidate will provide research assistance,information literacy instruction, outreach, and collection support for programsin Durham College's Faculty of Social and Community Services. Throughinnovative and responsive library services, the Liaison Librarian will helpstudents, faculty, and staff navigate an evolving information landscape anddevelop the skills needed for academic and professional success.

While primarily based at the North Oshawacampus library, the successful candidate may occasionally work at other librarylocations.

Reporting to the Associate UniversityLibrarian, Scholarly Resources, the Liaison Librarian serves as the primarylibrary contact for assigned academic programs within Durham College's Facultyof Social and Community Services.

The successful candidate will maintainstrong partnerships with faculty and campus partners, deliver engaginginstruction, provide expert research support, and contribute to the developmentof collections and services that align with curriculum needs. The incumbentwill actively participate in initiatives related to information literacy,student engagement, scholarly communication, open education, and emergingtechnologies that support teaching and learning.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:ย 

  • Provide responsive researchassistance and consultation services to students, faculty, and staff throughin-person, virtual, and asynchronous channels
  • Design, deliver, and assessinformation literacy instruction that supports academic success, criticalthinking, and ethical information use
  • Develop and maintain strongpartnerships with academic departments and campus service areas
  • Evaluate, develop, and managecollections that support teaching, learning, and applied research in assigneddisciplines
  • Promote library services,resources, and initiatives to increase awareness, engagement, and studentsuccess
  • Contribute to the developmentof learning materials, guides, tutorials, and online resources
  • Support initiatives relatedto open educational resources (OER), scholarly communication, copyright, andemerging educational technologies
  • Monitor trends inlibrarianship, higher education, AI, digital literacy, and assigned subjectdisciplines to inform service development
  • Participate in librarycommittees, projects, assessment activities, and strategic initiatives
  • Contribute to an inclusive,welcoming, and student-centered learning environment
