What does a library research assistant do?

A Library Research Assistant supports librarians and library users by helping with research tasks, locating resources, and organizing materials. They often assist patrons in finding books, articles, or data, and may help with cataloging or maintaining digital collections. Research assistants may also support academic projects, gather information for faculty or students, and help manage interlibrary loans. Their work ensures library services run smoothly and users have access to the information they need.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a library research assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Library Research Assistant, you need strong research, information retrieval, and organizational skills, often supported by coursework or experience in library science or a related field. Familiarity with library databases, cataloging systems, and digital research tools like JSTOR or ProQuest is typically required. Attention to detail, effective communication, and customer service skills help you collaborate with library staff and assist patrons efficiently. These abilities ensure accurate information delivery and foster a supportive learning environment for library users.

What are some common challenges faced by library research assistants when supporting patrons with research inquiries?

Library Research Assistants often encounter challenges such as locating credible and up-to-date resources across diverse subjects, especially when patrons have complex or interdisciplinary research needs. Job description

At MJH Life Sciences our success is measured by your success! If you set your standards high and want to contribute to a winning team, we'll provide you with every opportunity to help grow our company and your career. Our associates come from all backgrounds, sharing one key quality: determination to succeed. We value being Service Focused, having a Passion for Winning, Innovation, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. Nothing means more to us than hiring people with these attributes. If you believe you're right for the job, this is the place to prove it!
Role Overview
We are seeking a Marketing Coordinator who is ready to roll up their sleeves, learn quickly, and contribute to marketing programs that drive real results. You will support the development and execution of HCP engagement campaigns across multiple channels, gaining hands-on experience in audience research, content development, campaign operations, and competitive analysis. This role is designed for someone with a bias toward action, a strong curiosity about what drives audience behavior, and the ability to operate in a fast-moving, test-and-learn environment. You are expected to leverage AI as a core part of how you execute, think, and scale your impact.
What You'll Do
  • Support the execution of integrated HCP marketing campaigns across email, digital, social, and event channels, moving quickly while maintaining high standards of quality
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, content creation, and campaign execution, improving speed without sacrificing accuracy or brand integrity
  • Research HCP audience segments, industry trends, and competitive messaging to inform targeting, positioning, and campaign decisions
  • Write and refine copy for promotional materials including emails, social posts, landing pages, and print, using AI to iterate faster and improve output quality
  • Assist in developing marketing and sales enablement materials such as presentations, one-pagers, and sell sheets that equip commercial teams with clear, compelling messaging
  • Monitor competitor marketing activity and synthesize insights into actionable takeaways that keep the team differentiated
  • Coordinate with creative and internal teams to move assets efficiently from concept through final delivery
  • Track campaign performance and use data, including AI-assisted analysis where appropriate, to support optimization and continuous improvement
  • Maintain organized content and asset libraries so teams always have access to the most current and effective materials

What Sets You Apart
  • A go-getter who does not wait to be told what to do. You identify opportunities, take ownership, and follow through
  • An AI-native mindset. You actively use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or automation platforms to improve how you work and can clearly explain how they enhance your output
  • Strong writing instincts with a genuine interest in developing content for healthcare and professional audiences
  • Curiosity about audiences. You want to understand not just who they are, but what drives their decisions and engagement
  • Ability to balance speed with precision in a high-output environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing momentum
  • Comfortable working with marketing platforms, contact databases, and campaign tracking tools
  • Familiarity with healthcare, life sciences, or B2B/B2C marketing is a plus

AI Capability Expectation
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate how they are currently using AI in their work or academic experience. This includes:
  • Specific tools used
  • The tasks where AI is applied
  • The measurable impact such as time saved, improved quality, or increased output
  • Bonus: examples of prompts, workflows, or systems you have developed

Compensation Range
$45,000 to $55,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role. Compensation will depend on factors including educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Benefits Overview
We are proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
  • Hybrid work schedule
  • Health insurance through Cigna (medical and dental)
  • Vision coverage through VSP
  • Pharmacy benefits through OptumRx
  • FSA, HSA, Dependent Care FSA, and Limited Purpose FSA options
  • 401(k) and Roth 401(k) with company match
  • Pet discount program with PetAssure
  • Norton LifeLock identity theft protection
  • Employee Assistance Program through NYLGBS
  • Fertility benefits through Progyny
  • Commuter benefits
  • Company-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
  • Voluntary Term Life and AD&D Insurance, plus Universal Life options
  • Supplemental Aflac coverage: Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity

Our Operating Standard
We operate with discipline, clarity, and accountability. The ability to effectively leverage AI to improve speed, quality, and output is an expectation in this role, not a preference.
