Job description
Who We Are:
Lowenstein Sandler is a one of the most sophisticated law firms in the United States, with over 400 lawyers and 300 business services professionals serving clients from offices in New York, Palo Alto, Roseland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Wilmington. We recruit candidates who seek a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that prioritizes our clients, our colleagues, and the communities where we work and live. Committed to career development and to a diverse and inclusive workplace, the firm offers many programs and opportunities for personal and professional growth. We seek professionals for our business services group who share these values.
Lowenstein Sandler is seeking a Knowledge Management Coordinator to join a growing Knowledge and Research Services (KRS) Department. As part of a forward-thinking team at the intersection of legal practice and innovation, you will collaborate with senior KRS staff and attorneys to advance the firm's knowledge-sharing, legal technology, and AI-driven initiatives under our Vision 2030 strategy.
This role offers hands-on exposure to enterprise knowledge systems, generative AI tools, and a high-performing national law firm - making it an ideal launchpad for a career in knowledge management, legal technology, or law firm operations.
Essential Job Requirements:
Knowledge Resource Development:
- Develop and maintain practice resources including SharePoint-based sites, client-facing portals, and work product libraries.
- Continuously improve the design and usability of knowledge resources, including suggesting site architecture, navigation, and UX enhancements informed by user feedback.
AI Evaluation & Integration:
- Test and evaluate AI tools and platforms - assessing accuracy, output quality, workflow fit, and risk considerations - and document findings for the KRS team and firm leadership.
- Support the development and maintenance of AI training materials, prompt libraries, and user guidance for legal technology tools.
- Assist attorneys and staff in understanding how to apply AI tools effectively and responsibly within their practice workflows.
- Stay current on emerging AI developments relevant to legal practice and contribute observations and recommendations to the team.
- Analyze usage metrics and present actionable insights to department leads as part of firm-wide innovation and enablement efforts.
Project Coordination & Operations:
- Develop a working understanding of firm systems - including business intake, matter experience tracking, and document management - to support efficient information retrieval and compliance.
- Gain exposure to project management and support end-to-end innovative technology initiatives in a law firm setting.
- Assist with broader KRS and firm innovation projects as directed by team leadership.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum two years' experience in knowledge management, operations, or similar role involving process management, user support, usage reporting, and/or coordination across multiple stakeholders. Prior experience in a law firm, legal tech, or technology environment is a plus.
- AI Fluency: You have hands-on experience using generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar) and can speak to what you've built, tested, or learned with them. You understand the basics of prompt design, model limitations, and responsible AI use - and you're excited to go deeper.
- Technology Enthusiasm: You pick up new applications, systems, and platforms quickly. You don't wait for instructions - you explore, experiment, and figure things out. Familiarity with SharePoint, document management systems, or legal tech is a plus.
- Strong Communicator: You write and speak clearly and precisely. You adjust your communication style for different audiences - attorneys, peers, and firm leadership - and you can translate technical concepts into accessible guidance that engages users.
- Creative Problem-Solver: You approach challenges with curiosity and analytical rigor. You look for ways to improve how things work, not just maintain the status quo.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: You manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously without dropping the ball and you follow through on commitments reliably. You understand priorities, meet deadlines, and catch the details that matter.
- Proactive & Self-Directed: You don't wait to be told what to do. You anticipate needs, flag issues early, and take ownership of your work. You're adaptable in a fast-moving environment and willing to go the extra mile when the team needs it.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based collaboration tools required.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Build Knowledge Resources: Develop and maintain the firm's knowledge infrastructure - practice sites, work product libraries, and attorney-facing portals - that lawyers rely on daily.
- Contribute to Legal Tech Strategy: Work with raw usage metrics to bring meaningful insights forward, assess ROI, and communicate the efficacy of KM initiatives to leaders at the firm.
- Work with AI Tools at the Frontier: Actively test, evaluate, and help integrate generative AI platforms (such as Harvey, Microsoft Copilot, and others) into legal workflows - contributing real input to the firm's AI strategy.
- Grow in a Mission-Driven Team: Join a team dedicated to continuous improvement, where your ideas are heard and your contributions shape how a top-tier law firm operates.
- Teach & Enable Others: Coordinate training sessions and guide attorneys and staff on knowledge management and AI tools - becoming a go-to resource for how the firm learns new technology.
- Develop Foundational Legal Fluency: Work alongside lawyers and business professionals across practice groups, gaining exposure to legal processes, terminology, and the documents that drive sophisticated transactions and litigation.
- Solve Real Problems in Real Time: Partner with attorneys and vendors to troubleshoot technical issues and improve workflows - seeing the immediate impact of your work.
