Job Title: Information Literacy Fellow (Temporary)
Department: Academic Services/Decker Library
Division: Academic Affairs
Reports to: Information Literacy and Instructional Design Librarian
Work Schedule: 7 hours per week, Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays, 15 weeks during the semester
Compensation: $2,000/semester
General purpose: The Information Literacy Fellow supports the Decker Library's Information Literacy Program by teaching and co-teaching library instruction sessions to undergraduate, and occasionally graduate, students. The Fellow will be primarily responsible for teaching and collaborating with the Information Literacy and Instructional Design Librarian on the required library curriculum for select undergraduate and graduate programs. When necessary, the Fellow may also be responsible for developing and teaching new lessons for non-required instruction requests. Additionally, teaching at the Decker Library includes documentation of lesson plans, all related materials and handouts, assessments, and statistics for all classes taught.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach required and non-required library instruction sessions, solo and co-teaching as needed.
Assist the Information Literacy and Instructional Design Librarian in teaching and organizational support for the instruction program including maintenance of the library classroom; providing shared handouts, guides, and rubrics; and collecting and/or reviewing program statistics.
Communicate with faculty regarding assigned sessions as needed.
Develop and document lesson plans including assessment evidence and data.
One weekly two-hour shift on the Research Help Desk.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Research skills in a dynamic electronic environment such as effective database searching techniques, strategies, and use of a variety of programs and digital research platforms.
Knowledge of the (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education and other important instruction information literacy practices and the assessment of them.
Knowledge of "Best Practices" of classroom pedagogy in higher education to be able to apply these practices.
Public speaking skills to make effective and engaging presentations to diverse groups.
Work flexibly, independently, and collaboratively with colleagues, staff, faculty, and students fostering a collegial work environment that encourages growth, inclusivity, innovation, curiosity, and rigor.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
1 year of academic library and/or teaching experience.
Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to set and keep deadlines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with teaching information literacy at the college level.
Background in art, art history, or design.
Demonstrated experience with promoting inclusive teaching and learning.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment, EHS Manager training schedule.
