Job description

POSITION:                  DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON, LIBRARY/MEDIA SPECIALIST
LOCATION:               District-Wide position for the 2026-2027 SY
                                  (May be filled as a Chair or Co-Chair)
QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Library/Media
  • Master's Degree, preferred
  • Three or more years successful teaching experience
  • Experience developing and delivering various professional development i.e., seminars, interactive work sessions, small group, and one on one coaching
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, school administrators and central office staff
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of  strategies to increase student engagement
  • Knowledge of instructional differentiation strategies
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities


SALARY:                                           CEA EPER Salary Scale 
MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT:         July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Collaborate with District Administrators and Instructional/Curriculum Coaches on planning and implementation of various District-wide Curricular initiatives (K-12)
  • Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Administrators to identify annual objectives for Libraries
  • Plan and facilitate monthly meetings of Library Media Specialists during district staff development days to communicate curricular issues and coordinate the implementation of annual objectives. Meetings with LMS must cover district initiatives as they relate to the role of LMS:
    •     Review and analyze District achievement data in the content areas and identify key strengths and potential opportunities to improve curriculum
    •     Identify professional development needs for Library Media
  • Gather feedback and provide timely input in the review and revision of curriculum materials and instructional materials
  • Coordinate the ordering of print and non-print materials
  • Ensure that LMS are aware of curriculum changes/revisions, and know how to access materials, pacing guides, and other instructional materials
  • Serve as a member of the Core Curriculum Team for the Content Area
  • Serve as a resource for all LMS who need assistance in the Content Area
  • Serve as LMS representative for the district to DOE meetings as requested
  • Assist LMS with inventory assessment, weeding outdated materials and equipment, and selecting new items and equipment district-wide
  • Serve as a resource for questionable materials
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Electronic and verbal communications skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to address issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of library systems including Destiny
  • Would need to have time to travel to libraries and visit with LMS as problems/concerns need to be addressed
