Job Summary:
As the Embedded Software Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for working as part of an engineering team and have software architect and team lead responsibility to design, develop, integrate, and test software features for machine electrification applications running on embedded electronic controls.
What You Will Do:
  • Machine software feature development
  • Integration of software features taken from models and libraries to create software flash files
  • Integration of configuration and calibration data
  • Assignment of software development activities to software developers
  • Test plan development and software validation
  • Identification and resolution of software defects
  • Software reviews
  • Possible mentoring of full-time junior engineers and part-time student interns

What You Will Have:
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Producing Results: Understanding of the criticality of getting things done in spite of current circumstances and the ability to utilize assigned resources and leverage back-channel resources (individuals or teams) to achieve or exceed planned outcomes.
Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
  • Proven experience with model-based development using Matlab/Simulink in an embedded software environment
  • Proven experience in embedded C software development
  • Proven experience with software version control tools (e.g.Git)
  • Working knowledge of embedded real time operating systems
  • Experience leading a team of software developers

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
Education: Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science or related curriculum.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
