Job description

The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County.  We are seeking excellent educators who can provide high-quality instruction and build authentic, supportive relationships with students. We are committed to hiring an inclusive teaching staff to create warm, joyful, student-centered, and welcoming schools. 

Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic, innovative and passionate educator with strong leadership skills to serve in the interim position of Library Media Specialist at Horace Greeley High School beginning February 23, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

Note: applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Inspires and supports the reading lives of both students and teachers by creating inclusive collections that acknowledge and celebrate diverse experiences and provide instructional opportunities to empower learners as effective users and creators of information and ideas.
  • Leads in the selection, integration, organization, and sharing of digital resources and tools to support transformational teaching and learning and develops the digital curation skills of others.
  • Builds instructional partnerships with educators to design and implement evidence-based curricula and assessments that integrate elements of deeper learning, critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, creativity, innovation, and the active use of technology.
  • Empowers students as creators by encouraging and facilitating students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic real-world problem solving.
  • Partners with teachers to enhance classroom curriculum by integrating Makerspace activities within the library, providing hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences. Supports the design process and cross-curricular projects that foster creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving.
  • Maintains a learner's stance and continues to engage in professional learning opportunities though a PLN, conferences, readings, podcasts, etc.
  • Designs collaborative spaces by providing flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Participates in setting the school district's vision and strategic plan for digital learning and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners.

Certification:

  • New York State Certification as a Librarian or Library/Media Specialist
