Summary of Position:
The Graphic Design intern will assist the Dean's Office in creating, implementing, and maintaining physical and digital graphic assets that support the recruitment and retention of KCAD students. In addition, this position will work with the Dean's Office to put together assets for KCAD's social media platforms.
The position offers up to 10 hours/week. The weekly schedule will be determined by the student's availability and the Dean's Office's needs. Hours are flexible and can be adjusted to fit the student's course schedule as it changes from semester to semester.
Position Requirements:
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Familiarity with Canva and Microsoft Office.
Basic knowledge of typography, layout, color theory, and branding principles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
A willingness to try new things and learn on the job.
Photography or videography experience is a plus.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Graphic Design & Creative Development
Design print and digital marketing materials, including flyers, posters, brochures, postcards, and banners.
Create graphics for social media campaigns, websites, email communications, and digital signage.
Assist in developing visual assets for student recruitment and admissions initiatives.
Create branded templates for internal college communications and presentations.
Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution.
Design promotional materials for exhibitions, lectures, orientations, portfolio reviews, open houses, and other college events.
Assist with environmental graphics and signage for campus events.
Branding & Marketing
Ensure all creative materials align with KCAD and Ferris State University brand standards.
Participate in brainstorming sessions for marketing campaigns and event promotions.
Research current design trends and recommend creative ideas to enhance marketing efforts.
Help develop visual concepts that showcase student success, academic programs, and campus life.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:
Photography & Multimedia
Photograph campus events, student work, and college activities.
Provide on-site creative support during major campus events when needed.
Edit and retouch photos for marketing and promotional use.
Assist with basic video editing and motion graphics for social media and promotional videos.
Organize and maintain the college's digital photo and design asset library.
