Primary Purpose
Assist in the operation and organization of the campus library/media center by supporting students and staff with library services, circulation procedures, instructional resources, and technology. Promote a welcoming environment that encourages literacy, research, and academic success.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or college coursework preferred
  • Educational aide certification requirements as required by the state
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • Basic knowledge of library procedures and office practices
  • Proficient computer and technology skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Experience
  • Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
  • Previous library or clerical experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Library Support
  • Assist with daily library circulation including checking materials in and out
  • Organize, shelve, and maintain library books and instructional resources
  • Process new materials including labeling, barcoding, and inventory management
  • Assist students and staff in locating library and digital resources
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and appearance of the library/media center
  • Help prepare library displays, bulletin boards, and reading promotions
Student and Instructional Support
  • Supervise students utilizing the library and ensure appropriate behavior
  • Assist students with basic research skills and technology use
  • Support literacy initiatives, book fairs, and campus reading programs
  • Provide assistance to teachers with instructional and media materials
  • Encourage student engagement and independent learning
Technology and Clerical Duties
  • Assist with operation of library computers, printers, and media equipment
  • Troubleshoot minor technology issues and report concerns as needed
  • Maintain library records, overdue notices, and circulation data
  • Assist with scheduling and maintaining instructional resources and equipment
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information
  • Follow district policies, campus procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Attend required training sessions and meetings
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and community members
  • Perform other duties assigned by the librarian or campus administration

    *This position cannot be performed remotely
