Job description

POSITION TITLE:         Assistant - Raw Materials, Aerie Apparel
REPORTS TO:              Sr Coordinator - Raw Materials


POSITION SUMMARY:
This role will assist in sourcing and developing  category-appropriate fabrics within the apparel categories.  Fabrics that are the appropriate aesthetic and costs for the brand, as well as assisting in the creation and maintenance of the fabric resource library to support business needs.  


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in research fabric trends and creating fabric boards to represent seasonal fabric trends
  • Support the development of materials through its lifecycle
  • Work with design, production and external suppliers to develop qualities that are aligned with the Aerie brand aesthetic, cost and quality
  • Support reporting manager in following up with design, production, mills, and suppliers on outstanding fabric data to ensure data integrity and deliverables are met.
  • Adhere to seasonal development calendar with internal and external partners
  • Work to ensure milestone deadlines are met and that needed information is obtained from CFT partners 
  • Maintain daily communication with cross functional partners.
  • Manage receipt of new fabrics and file accordingly. Maintain orderliness of Fabric library both physical and digital
  • Assist in maintaining material library and internal records database:
    • Obtain Material Profile Sheets for all items sampled and organize all records on internal shared drive. Ensure information on profile sheets is updated as needed
    • Update and maintain development chart 
    • Create PLM codes for materials in PLM
    • Ensure that the material library is up-to-date and organized.
  • Assist in scheduling fabric supplier appointments and internal touchbases
  • Actively participate in key milestone meetings with design, production and merchants
  • Assist reporting manager with sourcing projects across all fabric initiatives and strategies
  • In person/in-office collaboration is required, the frequency of such in-person/in-office collaboration (e.g., portion of week, entire week) is dictated by business needs.  Such collaboration includes work centralized around product development, milestone meetings, and fabric approvals


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design Textile or Production (or equivalent experience and education)
  • 1-2 years in garment industry or fabric related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with Fabric team, cross-functional partners, and external vendors
  • Able to multi task and prioritize based on business objectives
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Working knowledge of Google Suites (Sheets, Doc, and Slides), MS Office Suite & Internet applications
  • Miro and PLM experience a plus
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Comfortable working in an hybrid environment - working in office a few days a week (based on the needs of the business or big milestone week) with occasional remote work from home
