Security Services Officer

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is seeking an organized and proactive Security Services Officer. The Security Services Officer will patrol the building, parking lots and grounds to ensure security and prevent damage to or loss of company and employee property. She/he will also assist in securing the safety of the Library's property, patrons, visitors, and staff.

The AUC Woodruff Library supports the teaching and learning missions of three institutions of higher learning that comprise the world's largest consortium of Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) - Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Our staff is diverse and represents many nations, background, and perspectives, yet we all work together to meet the needs of our students, faculty, and other stakeholders. What We Require for the Security Services Officer Role:

  • Highschool diploma/GED or vocational school diploma
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in security
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and drug screen.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; running may be required to address and report emergency incidents.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, overnight, and weekends as required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Experience & Credentials:

  • Military or law enforcement experience

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides first response to Library customer service including, but not limited to, handling patron service requests and providing building directional layout.
  • Make routine rounds of the building and grounds by vehicle or walking.
  • Responds to building alarm notices.
  • Monitor all entrances during the arrival and departure of employees at main shift changes.
