Summary of Job Duties:UAMS is the largest academic health sciences center in Arkansas. The Library supports the education, clinical, research, and outreach activities of six colleges (Graduate School, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health), a comprehensive medical center, and several institutes of excellence. It also provides support to the rest of the state through regional centers. This non-tenured faculty position reports to the UAMS Library Director and works in a team-oriented environment. This is an on-site, non-telework position.
Qualifications:
  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library/information science.

  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in an academic and/or health sciences library.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to be flexible and creative in response to changing needs and priorities.

  • Adept at collaborating with a broad range of faculty, staff, and students.

  • Demonstrated commitment to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view, and supporting an inclusive educational and employment environment.

  • Strong understanding of academic library standards, policies, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience in life sciences.

  • Knowledge of health sciences information resources to support medical education, scholarship, and patient care.

  • Strong user-focused public services orientation.

  • Familiarity with electronic resource licensing, library management systems, and related technologies.

  • Experience with applications that support or enhance online learning environments (e.g. LibGuides).

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates the daily operations of the libraries' resources, facilities, and services.

  • Supervises staff members in Access Services, Interlibrary Loan, and IT support.

  • Serves as acting director in the director's absence.

  • Coordinates the format review and processing of dissertations and interacts with the graduate school, colleges, and registrar's office.

  • Provides support for the virtual bookstore by assisting faculty/students with book adoptions while serving as a liaison with the registrar's office.

  • Collaborates and provides support to the Education and Research Services' team to ensure a positive user experience with electronic resources, ILS, and link resolver.

  • Assists in the assessment and development of long-range planning for resources and services.

  • Participates in the development and review of library policies and procedures.

  • Aids branding, marketing, and promotion of library services and programs.

  • Coordinates the collection and reporting of library statistics to regional and national agencies.

  • Commitment to continuing professional development, scholarly activity, and professional service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
