Eligibility Requirements

  3. Must be enrolled in at least half-time. (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) per semester

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Associate Director and under the lead work direction of the Office of Marketing and Communications team in executing digital marketing and social media strategies to promote CSUSB recruitment initiatives, increased visibility of the CSUSB brand, and promote the department's goal and objectives. All content developed will be aligned with the university's core values and strategic plan . This position is ideal for a creative and motivated student who is passionate about content creation, covering events, networking to develop campus partnerships, and increasing the engagement and following of CSUSB's digital footprint.

Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision and under the lead work direction, duties include but not limited to:
- Assist in creating engaging, branded, digital content, including graphics, short videos, and written copy for CSUSB's official social media channels.
- Conduct brief interviews with students, faculty, and event attendees to create compelling content.
- Assist in scheduling, publishing, and monitoring social media content across various platforms (Instagram, Threads, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Respond to comments and messages in alignment with CSUSB's communication standards.
- Capture and post real-time social media content during university events, including photos, videos, and live updates.
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm creative strategies for brand awareness and engagement.
- Explore emerging digital marketing trends and best practices.
- Assist to track and report key performance metrics for digital marketing campaigns
- Organize and maintain digital content libraries, including images, videos, graphics, templates, and department software tools.
- Assist with email marketing, website updates, and other digital communication initiatives as needed.
- Assist in coordinating social media takeovers and live-streaming efforts.
- Ensuring inventory list and check-in/check out list is up to date on a weekly basis.
- Assist in crisis communication as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications: 

- Basic experience using social media platforms for professional or organizational purposes.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Knowledge of video editing software (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or iMovie) is a plus. Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Currently enrolled at CSUSB with a major or strong interest in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.

Special Conditions: 

Occasional nights and weekends, depending on assignments and project needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
