Job description

Work-Study — Library Assistant Part-Time

Part-time position available for the following shift:

  • 4pm-6pm Monday-Thursday
  • 3p-5p Friday

Student worker schedules can be adjusted around class times. Any schedule changes must accommodate overall staffing needs and be coordinated in advance.

Job Responsibilities

Library assistants aid as directed by Library Learning Services Specialist and/or Head of Library Learning Services. This position requires communication and computer skills. This position will require contact with the public, students and/or staff. Some lifting of books may be required. Duties to be performed:

  • Assist library patrons with finding and using resources, including technology
  • Use the library system to check materials in and out
  • Correctly shelve library materials
  • Inventory and shelf read library collection
  • Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loans
  • Property stamp periodicals and archive newspaper articles
  • Actively participate in documentation and recordkeeping
  • Communicate in a professional manner
  • Perform general cleaning and equipment maintenance
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned

Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00/hour (part-time, non-benefit eligible)

Work Schedule: Maximum of 10 hours per week
