Department Overview:
The ASA, CSSA, and SSSA publish an extensive library, containing 13 journals covering the agronomic, crop soil and environmental sciences and have been published since 1907. Two magazines, CSA News (society members) and Crops & Soils (certified professionals) are also published by the Societies. Both magazines are fully digital, feature user and mobile friendly design, include daily updates of timely and are freely accessible without a paywall or login. Lastly, our Book library contains more than 350 titles with several new titles published annually.

Qualifications:
• Pursuing studies in or have experience in journalism, communications, digital media, video production, or a related field.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Interest in multimedia journalism and digital content creation.
• Experience with video-editing software is preferred but not required.
• Ability to select visuals, b-roll footage, images, and music that enhance a story and engage viewers.
• Willingness to learn and follow established workflows for creating article summary videos.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Premiere Pro, is a plus.
• Interest in agriculture or environmental sciences is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to write about science and research in a variety of styles and formats.
• Knowledge of multimedia platforms and tools (examples could include any of the following: video production and/or editing software, image editing applications, basic animation/.gif production, infographic design, illustration creation, etc.).
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Publications Content Coordinator will assist the Magazine Team in producing content. Duties will include:
• Putting text and visuals together for web stories.
• Updating content calendar.
• Taking article assignments and turning them into magazine stories by interviewing sources and writing articles.
• Assisting with visual assets (creating, sourcing, or editing, depending on skills and interest).
• Helping with video production/editing.
