Job description

Serves as the first point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, staff, and guests entering the medical school. This position is responsible for maintaining a welcoming, professional, and secure reception area by monitoring building access, assisting visitors, managing the sign-in process, and providing general information and directions. The Student Worker supports daily operations within the reception area and Dean's Suite by performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor the building entrance intercom system and respond to visitor inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Verify visitor identity and purpose of visit before granting access to the building.
  • Operate the building access system to admit authorized visitors.
  • Welcome visitors upon arrival and ensure all guests complete the required sign-in procedures.
  • Issue visitor badges and maintain visitor logs in accordance with building security protocols.
  • Contact faculty, staff, students, or departments to notify them of visitor arrivals.
  • Provide general information regarding the medical school, building layout, and campus resources.
  • Assist visitors with directions and escort procedures as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with faculty, staff, department locations, and contact information to appropriately route visitors.
  • Respond to general inquiries and provide excellent customer service to all guests and constituents.
  • Straighten and prepare conference rooms in Dean's Suite.
  • Support Dean's Suite operations by completing administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of reception area.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to institutional policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the medical school's operations.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
  • Must be a current Liberty University student, eligible for Federal Student Work (FWS), able to work up to 18 hours per week, and available to work various shifts ( M-F - 7:30am - 5:00pm).
  • Experience in customer service and detail-oriented preferred.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer and organization skills.

Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
