LOCATION: Chili, NY


SUMMARY: Slits printed rolls from the press or Extruder to individual rolls as per customer specifications. Material being slit is inspected for quality/defects and finished rolls are palletized for shipment to the customer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitate on the job training and instruction for team members on the correct use of tools and equipment to ensure proper safety and operating procedures are followed.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets up machine.
  • Uses lowboy to mount full rolls onto machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect material defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures material dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling/greasing machines and changing female knives.
  • Prepares required paperwork, including daily production reports, SPC charting, roll tickets and inventory tags.
  • Completes work orders when necessary.
  • Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations. Follows plant safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
