Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Supervisor

Company: Gateway

About Us: Enstructure New Haven is a full-service deep-water marine terminal operator and service provider. Strategically located in the Port of New Haven, our terminal provides turnkey, vertically integrated logistics services for dry bulk, liquid bulk, and breakbulk products. With our state-of-the-art infrastructure, we support ship, barge, truck, and rail capabilities, making us one of the most efficient and economical terminal operators on the East Coast.

Terminal History: In 2018 Enstructure acquired Gateway Terminal, a bulk terminals and logistics company. This acquisition expanded Enstructureโ€™s capabilities and footprint, comprised of 22 terminals strategically located near major population hubs along the East Coast, Gulf Coast, and Inland River system. Enstructure provides full-service and reliable logistics solutions to some of the worldโ€™s largest companies in the energy, agriculture, food, manufacturing, construction, and public safety sectors.

Summary of Position:
As a Senior Diesel Mechanic, you will manage the maintenance program for onsite equipment, oversee internal shop operations, and ensure the efficient and safe operation of diesel-powered equipment. Your role will involve troubleshooting, diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and maintaining a clean work environment. Strong communication skills, resourcefulness, and dependability are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and Diagnose: Perform diagnostics to determine issues with equipment and execute necessary repairs.
  • Mechanical Repairs: Conduct mechanical repairs as needed to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Sanitation and Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintenance Program Management: Oversee the equipment maintenance program for onsite equipment.
  • Shop Operations: Manage internal shop operations and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Welding: Perform welding tasks when necessary (not required).
  • Inventory Management: Maintain parts inventory and handle ordering processes.
  • Work Instructions: Delegate accurate work instructions for repairs.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in diesel mechanics.
  • 5+ years of senior-level diesel background.
  • ASE certifications or equivalent are a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime during the week or on weekends.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Resourceful, well-organized, and dependable.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of diesel-powered equipment, including work trucks, trailers, semi-trucks, and forklifts.
  • Experience with diesel engine repair (5+ years required).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lift and move product items up to 60 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience with inventory control and asset management software is a plus.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug/physical screenings.
