The instructor will teach a range of Diesel Technology courses, including Automotive and Diesel Industrial Safety Standards, Heavy Duty Electrical Systems, Diesel Engines, Diesel Fuel Systems, Emissions, & Diagnostics, Diesel Drivetrain, Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Mobile Hydraulic Technology, Air Brakes, Suspension and Steering, and Trades & Technology Capstone, catering to students with varied academic and career goals. Responsibilities include developing, revising, and delivering course materials aligned with college standards, assessing student performance
The Diesel Instructor will be providing instruction in the above named courses in a classroom environment. In addition, the instructor will provide instruction and supervision in a "hands-on" shop/lab environment where students will be performing tasks associated with ASE Education Foundation approved task list for post-secondary Medium/Heavy Truck training programs. The Diesel Instructor is expected to be proficient in all aspects of diesel service and repair and have the ability to demonstrate and supervise a wide variety of diesel technology tasks performed by students in a safe working and learning environment.
The instructor will also be responsible for overseeing the safe operation and maintenance of the shop/lab facilities, equipment, and tooling used by students in the program. The Instructor will also provide academic support to help students succeed. The instructor must demonstrate a deep commitment to fostering student success through engagement in departmental activities, and staying current in the fields of teaching and Diesel Technology through professional development.
In addition to classroom teaching in varied environments, the Diesel Technology Instructor will actively participate in student engagement activities such as recruitment, on-campus events and activities, and academic support initiatives. The Instructor will contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution by collaborating with colleagues across the College on curriculum development, program assessment, community building, and student success strategies. The instructor role also involves institutional service, including participation on committees, involvement in accreditation processes, and collaboration on departmental projects.

Knowledge and understanding the modern diesel technology service and repair industry as it pertains to the vehicles and equipment less than 10 years old Skills Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using standard diesel industry tooling and equipment common to the heavy duty diesel shop environment Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively. Instructing - Teaching others how to do something.
Learning Strategies - Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications: ASE Certified Master Technician in Medium/Heavy Trucks or the ability to attain Associates Degree in Automotive, Diesel, or closely related field of study Six years' experience as a, diesel technician, technical Instructor/trainer, or related profession Valid Driver's License and ability to be insured by the College's insurance provider In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
