Job Description

The Systems Engineer will support the development, integration, verification, and validation of complex aerospace systems and architectures. This role involves applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to define system architectures, manage requirements, and support cross-functional engineering integration throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience with aerospace systems engineering, SysML modeling, and system architecture development for complex aircraft or aerospace platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and management of system architectures for complex aerospace vehicles and subsystems.

  • Perform systems engineering activities including system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification, and validation.

  • Develop and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models using SysML and Cameo/MSOSA tools.

  • Analyze and evaluate system requirements, interfaces, and integration impacts across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Support system architecture trade studies and communicate technical solutions and architectural tradeoffs to stakeholders and customers.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and test engineering.

  • Integrate engineering specialty considerations including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, survivability, system security, certification, and product assurance into system configurations.

  • Support verification planning, validation activities, and system integration testing.

  • Document systems engineering processes, models, analyses, and technical data in compliance with program and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in technical reviews, architecture assessments, and customer meetings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science.

  • Level 4:

    • 7+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or

    • 3+ years of work-related engineering experience with a relevant Master’s degree or PhD.

  • Prior Systems Engineering experience including system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification, and validation.

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Cameo/MSOSA, and/or SysML.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience developing system architectures for complex aerospace vehicles or subsystems using MBSE methodologies (SysML/MSOSA).

  • Prior leadership experience in system architecture or lead systems engineering roles.

  • Experience communicating architectural tradeoffs and technical decisions to stakeholders and customers.

  • Understanding of engineering specialty areas including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, certification, regulatory compliance, and product assurance.

  • Familiarity with aircraft and flight systems and cross-functional engineering disciplines including Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Software Engineering (SW) to assess integration impacts.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science. Equivalent combinations of advanced education and related engineering experience may be considered.
