About the Role:

The ISSE Level III position is a senior-level role focused on providing expert systems security engineering support to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical information systems. The primary objective is to lead the development, implementation, and assessment of security architectures and controls in compliance with federal regulations and organizational policies. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate security requirements throughout the system development lifecycle, from concept through deployment and sustainment. The ISSE Level III will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the organization's cybersecurity posture. Ultimately, this position ensures that complex systems operate securely within a dynamic threat environment, supporting mission success and risk mitigation strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in systems security engineering or a related cybersecurity discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53, and other relevant federal cybersecurity standards.
  • Passive evaluations such as compliance audits using STIG Viewer, SCAP, etc. and active evaluations such as vulnerability assessments utilizing tools such as ACAS..
  • Active security clearance at the required level (e.g., Secret or Top Secret) as mandated by the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with automated security assessment tools and continuous monitoring solutions.
  • Prior experience working within DoD or federal government cybersecurity programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of security architectures for complex information systems in accordance with DoD and federal cybersecurity standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential security threats.
