Job description

The Undergraduate College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a restricted Transfer Credit Evaluator position. Transfer Credit Evaluators play a key role in executing the mission of this office by providing expertise in the evaluation of external academic credit and articulation to equivalent UVA credit, contribution to the College's broader external credit operations, and servicing the shared inboxes related to transfer credit. This position works closely with the Transfer Credit Manager, Undergraduate A&S Assistant Registrar, and other administrative staff to evaluate and process domestic and international transfer credit for undergraduate A&S students and will be an integral part of helping to shape transfer credit processes for the future.
Evaluate Domestic & International Transcripts
  • Read and assess transcripts from both U.S. and non-U.S. institutions, identify key characteristics on a transcript, and affirm equivalencies to UVA credit in compliance with College policy.
  • Facilitate review of credit equivalencies by academic departments and make recommendations based on analysis of available course data.
  • Maintain rules for articulating external credit and create new rules as appropriate.

Support College Study Abroad
  • Respond to requests from students to enroll in international coursework and affirm expected equivalencies as part of the university's Education Abroad Program. Provide support and expertise in the completion and correction of such requests.
  • Facilitate and support international credit approvals by academic departments and programs as required for a student's programs of study.

Support Pre-Matriculation Transfer Operations
  • Contribute to the cross-team effort to enter, articulate, and post credit for incoming students prior to their matriculation to UVA, as directed by the Transfer Credit Manager.
  • Participate meaningfully in the planning, and post-cycle reviews for each matriculation cycle. Provide feedback and recommendations as appropriate.

Support Office Operations
  • Work with the Transfer Credit team to service the shared inboxes related to College transfer credit.
  • Cross-train to support domestic post-matriculation transfer credit and test credit operations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with the members of College Registrar's office.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with the members of the Education Abroad team in the International Studies Office and attend regular meetings with those team members.

This position reports directly to the Transfer Credit Manager with strong ties to the College Registrar's office.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree • Two years of experience in college or university academic operations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with transfer credit processes, including international credit evaluation, is preferred.
  • Capacity to learn an array of information relative to A&S academic policy and procedures.
  • Motivation to work independently with little guidance is critical but should also be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • The ideal candidate possesses effective, professional interpersonal skills and can work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to evaluate/assess student needs, apply information, or make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications. MS Access, Oracle SIS, Slate, and UBI knowledge are preferred.

About the Position
This position reports directly to the College Transfer Credit Manager with strong ties to the College Assistant Registrar.
This position is a restricted position and will be contracted for 18 months. The position may be renewed, dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance. This is a non-exempt level, benefitted position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit Benefits . This position is primarily remote but requires days of in-office work each month.
The salary range for this position is $57,000-60,000. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
