DESCRIPTION Shoreview, Minnesota, a premier city in the north metro area of the twin cities is looking for a motivated, high-energy individual to provide direction to the swim lesson program. Successful candidates will be able to manage people, develop fun and educational activities for swim lessons, make good decisions and provide excellent customer service. DUTIES INCLUDE Supervises and work actively with staff to provide a high-quality program and service delivery Provides continual feedback to instructors based on swim lesson survey feedback and staff evaluations Assists with the ongoing development and execution of swim lesson curriculum Provides exceptional customer service, including communication both verbally and in writing Oversees the safe and proper operation of the Shoreview Parks and Recreation swim program; ensures that all facility rules and safety guidelines are followed; reports breaches of rules as necessary.

Makes decisions and responds to inquiries and concerns relating to participants, programs, staff and public Assists with new staff orientation Fills in as a substitute instructor when needed Works with city software systems Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Min Qualifications One year paid experience as a swim instructor One year customer service experience Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to lift and move 50 pounds. Desired Qualifications Additional customer service experience Supervisory experience Additional swim instructor experience Current swim instructor certification OTHER Hours Every other Saturday morning: 8:15 am - 11:45 am Monday & Thursday evenings: 4:45 pm - 7:45 pm *** FREE Community Center Membership. *** SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: None, will provide work direction in absence of the Aquatics Program Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Ability to work in water and go underwater to demonstrate the physical movements necessary to teach the curriculum.

Work in a warm, humid indoor pool environment with water temperatures up to 86 degrees. Ability to be exposed to noise and chemicals. Slippery surfaces walking on the pool deck.
