Lending Project Manager Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc. The Housing Projects Manager – Lending oversees complex housing rehabilitation and lending-related projects that help homeowners preserve and improve their homes. The role manages projects from initial assessment through completion by coordinating homeowners, contractors, lenders, and internal program teams to ensure projects remain on schedule, comply with lending and funding requirements, and meet program goals.

In addition to project oversight, the Housing Projects Manager serves as a trusted advisor by connecting homeowners with financial counseling, insurance resources, and housing stabilization services while navigating construction, rehabilitation, and financing processes. The position partners closely with Lending, Counseling, Property Management, and other program teams to deliver a seamless client experience, support strategic organizational initiatives, and strengthen community partnerships. The successful candidate is an organized project manager, collaborative problem solver, and relationship builder who can manage multiple complex projects while advancing NHSNYC’s mission of preserving safe, stable, and affordable housing.

Some evening and weekend work is required. The position also facilitates or cofacilitates homeowner, property management, and housing-related workshops and educational programs as needed.

Client Project Management

• Manage a portfolio of complex lending-related housing projects from assessment through completion.
• Serve as the primary liaison between homeowners, contractors, lenders, and service providers.
• Guide clients through construction, financing, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, documentation, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.

Construction & Rehabilitation Coordination

• Coordinate project scopes, cost reviews, contractor scheduling, and construction milestones.
• Troubleshoot permitting issues, contractor performance concerns, and scope changes.
• Support construction draw requests and required documentation.
• Connect clients to financial counseling, insurance resources, and housing stabilization services.
• Identify additional funding opportunities and resources needed to complete projects.
• Help homeowners understand financing structures, project costs, and program requirements.
• Partner with Lending, Counseling, Property Management, and Program teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
• Provide technical guidance on complex homeowner and small property owner cases.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate homeowner education, property management, and housing-related workshops.
• Participate in case review meetings for high-need clients.

Special Projects & Program Support

• Support strategic housing stabilization initiatives and executive-led projects.
• Track outcomes, identify trends, and support program and funder reporting.
• Strengthen contractor and service provider referral networks.

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain accurate client and project records.
• Ensure documentation complies with lending, audit, and program requirements.
• Support internal and external reporting obligations.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in housing, construction management, community development, finance, property management, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience in housing, lending, construction coordination, property management, or community development finance.
• Experience working with homeowners, contractors, and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong project management, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, client service, and relationship management skills.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred

• Experience overseeing home repair or rehabilitation projects.
• Knowledge of affordable housing programs, lending products, or CDFI environments.
• Familiarity with insurance claims, disaster recovery, or resilience‑related housing work.
• Experience facilitating adult education or homeowner workshops.
• Professional certification in project management, housing, construction, property management, or community development (e.g., PMP, CPM, HDFP, Certified Housing Counselor, or similar) preferred.
