Legion Technical Solutions (LTS) is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support a premier national security space program with one of our leading aerospace and defense partners.
This role is ideal for a systems engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, driving system architecture, and working across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities supporting Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (SISR).

What You'll Do
As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Define and elaborate system capabilities, features, and functional requirements
  • Develop system architecture concepts and interface definitions
  • Analyze system behavior through operational scenarios and use cases
  • Partner with Integration & Test teams to automate test procedures and analyze results
  • Investigate software and hardware integration issues and drive technical resolutions
  • Support Agile Program Increment (PI) planning, backlog management, and team capacity planning
  • Assist with Earned Value Management (EVM) execution and program performance tracking
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and program management to ensure technical, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved
  • Perform root cause analysis of system anomalies
  • Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and customer technical interchange meetings
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM discipline
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex software or hardware development programs
  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Concept of Operations (ConOps)
    • Capability and feature development
    • Functional analysis
    • Interface definition and control
    • Program Increment planning and execution
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government programs
  • Experience working within Agile development environments
  • Experience serving in Agile roles or supporting Agile Systems Engineering practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
  • Space, ISR, mission management, or large-scale ground systems
  • Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or similar Agile collaboration tools
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Python, Bash, Perl, Groovy, or Ruby scripting
  • Automation development and engineering productivity tooling
  • Test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Gherkin, or Behave
  • IBM DOORS or other requirements management platforms
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills
