Description Position Description

The Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing (LARW) program at the University of Washington School of Law invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank Assistant Professor (teaching track), with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a nine-month, 3-year appointment beginning September 16, 2027 .

The base salary range for this position will be$11,300 - $13,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach two sections of our first-year LARW course for the full academic year (3 quarters) with an anticipated class size of 17-20 students.

Our innovative LARW course offers first-year students seven credits of instruction in core lawyering skills including legal method, research, and writing. The successful candidate will mentor students and foster an inclusive environment. Legal writing courses at UW Law are taught by a team of dedicated and experienced faculty who stress collaboration and innovation. In collaboration with the LARW team, the successful candidate will develop curriculum that is consistently improved with new discoveries and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

Applicants for this teaching faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or foreign equivalent.
  • Expertise that demonstrates the potential for excellence in teaching legal writing and other practical lawyering skills.
