Job description

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of an attorney, Word Processors revise, format and create documents according to the firm's standard format.
Location: Onsite or hybrid preferred
Compensation: $31.25 - $40.87/hour
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, revise and format legal documents, discovery shells and other documents with high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Monitor and address formatting issues so that all forms/templates follow the firm's standard format.
  • Proofread and format documents for spelling and grammar.
  • Prepare/generate Table of Contents and Table of Authorities.
  • Download/re-format documents into Firm standard format and save to Filevine.
  • May perform many similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described.

Skills/Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):
  • High School Diploma
  • At least 5 years law firm experience preferred
  • Previous legal assistant/secretary experience preferred
  • Great written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of rules of evidence and conduct or proceedings in state, federal, trial and appellate courts in California.
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Great computer processing skills, including high-level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Team player attitude
  • Commitment to excellent service orientation, with the ability to work well with others on legal projects.
  • Familiarity with calendar and scheduling software
