Job description

Hunton Andrews Kurth is seeking a Legal Project Management (LPM) Analyst to support the Corporate Team, the Tax and ERISA Team. This role encompasses end-to-end matter management, from supporting informed scoping discussions, fee estimates, and budget development to facilitating proactive management and documentation of lessons learned. It leverages LPM tools and best practices to enhance financial transparency, improve predictability, and drive stronger, more sustainable profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and Fee Management
โ€ข Assist with development of fee estimates and matter budgets by analyzing historical data.
โ€ข Advise on appropriate scoping language.
โ€ข Ensure staffing, fee arrangements, and budgets align with Firm guidelines, workflows, approvals, client expectations, and Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs).

Matter Intake and Monitoring
โ€ข Follow new matters through the intake process to ensure accurate setup and data capture.
โ€ข Propose optimal monitoring solutions based on the specifics of the use case.

Reporting and Analysis
โ€ข Implement recommended reporting to monitor staffing, fee arrangements, and budgets.
โ€ข Follow established protocols for data maintenance and review.

Issue Identification and Resolution
โ€ข Identify scope creep, budget overruns, and staffing issues that may impact client expectations and firm profitability.
โ€ข Collaborate with attorneys to highlight these issues and offer advice to adjust staffing and budgets to avoid write-offs.
โ€ข Assist with related client communications as needed.

Proactive Support and Special Projects
โ€ข Identify opportunities for LPM support beyond budget and proposal processes by reviewing relevant firm data.
โ€ข Perform special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: College degree or advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience required, preferably in a law firm, legal department or government agency. Experience with transactional practices strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Other Qualifications: Compliance with Firm in-office policy required. Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work long hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. The expected salary range for Washington, DC based employees is $90,800-$122,850, though salaries for employees based outside of Washington, DC may differ.
