Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, a global law firm, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal secretary to join us as a Legal Practice Coordinator in our Los Angeles office. Candidates should have five or more years of experience working in the litigation practice section. This is an exciting opportunity to and real estate litigation, insurance recovery and environmental matters. This is a pivotal time at the firm, and we are looking for a hard-working and dynamic individual to join our team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform secretarial functions associated with firm administrative tasks, including processing new client/matter requests, engagement letters, conflict checks, client bills, time reports and expense reports.

  • Create, format, and edit a wide variety of legal documents including, pleadings and discovery. This includes proofreading and redlining work for accuracy.

  • E-file in state, federal and appellate courts, utilizing knowledge of local rules and procedures for filing and calendaring.

  • Schedule and support depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings and others. Demonstrate excellent organizational skills to efficiently manage case files, calendars, and travel.

  • Top-notch communication skills, poise, and professionalism, which are vital for interactions

  • Maintain highly confidential information, files, records, legal documents, and reports. Possess a positive attitude, be proactive, flexible, and a team player.

  • Utilize and maintain documents in the firm's electronic document management system

  • Prioritize needs based on urgency, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of litigation secretary experience in a large law firm setting and a solid understanding of the litigation process

  • Proficient with online court filings in state and federal courts Skilled with use of electronic document management systems Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work overtime, when needed.

  • Primary Responsibilities

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

California Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $100,000-$120,000.
