Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Personal Injury Associate Attorney to join our Lubbock, TX office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about plaintiff-side personal injury litigation and eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of injured clients. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to client advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a personal injury caseload from inception through resolution, including pre-litigation, litigation, and trial
  • Conduct comprehensive client consultations and intake interviews
  • Investigate claims, gather evidence, and develop case strategies
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
  • Engage in settlement negotiations with insurance companies and opposing counsel
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit preparation, and trial strategy development
  • Appear in court for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and legal guidance
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure efficient case management
  • Maintain accurate case files and documentation in accordance with firm policies
  • Participate in firm marketing and business development initiatives
  • Stay current on developments in personal injury law and continuing legal education
Qualifications Required
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
  • [1โ€“3] years of experience in personal injury law, plaintiff-side litigation, or related civil litigation (or strong litigation experience as a recent graduate)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Texas civil procedure and personal injury law
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral advocacy and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered representation
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
  • Experience handling motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, workplace injuries, and other personal injury matters
  • Trial experience or second-chair trial experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly desirable given the demographics of the Lubbock area
  • Familiarity with medical records review and working with medical experts
  • Experience with pre-litigation demand packages and settlement negotiations
