Position Summary:

The Legal Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations and activities of the Columbus Legal Assistants who provide administrative support to the attorneys. This position will group attorneys and Legal Assistants into pairings, monitor the pairings and develop and implement progressive processes to increase efficiency and maximize resources for optimal administrative support coverage across the Columbus office. The Legal Assistant Supervisor will manage and develop the Columbus Legal Assistants to ensure they are meeting the needs of attorneys now and in the future.

Essential Functions:

  • Align legal assistant resources and make assignment recommendations for appropriate staffing needs currently and in consideration of future talent needs. Assist Human Resources Recruiter regarding the hiring of Columbus Legal Assistants.
  • Research, collaborate, develop and implement various progressive processes to increase efficiency and maximize legal assistant coverage. Resolve workload and pairing issues as they arise. Conduct regular check-ins with individual legal assistants and attorneys, as well as periodic team meetings.
  • Coordinate annual performance feedback process; survey and collect feedback from attorneys regarding legal assistant performance, make recommendations to Chief Human Resources Officer and Personnel Committee for merit increases. Discipline and coach legal assistant staff when necessary. Determine and assign goals for legal assistants to improve and enhance individual skill levels. Identify training and educational opportunities for legal assistants individually and as a group.
  • Prepare daily Legal Assistant Out List and forward to legal assistants weekly to ensure all out of office time is captured. Utilize the Out List to approve timecards at the end of every pay period.
  • Provide legal administrative support to assigned attorneys.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in similar field.

The expected pay scale for this position is $90,000.00-$110,000.00 and represents our good faith estimate of the starting rate of pay at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as your qualifications, relevant experience, education, work location, and market conditions.
