Position Available:
Legal Administrative Assistant
Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO), a non-profit law firm that provides free legal help in civil legal matters to eligible individuals and groups in western Ohio, seeks an administrative assistant for its Lima office.
The administrative assistant will be responsible for providing case management, administrative, and secretarial support to LAWO.
Experience and Qualifications
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated administrative experience and strong secretarial skills.
  • Experience and proficiency using computer systems, including word processing, email, calendaring software, and Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to relate effectively with low-income individuals; demonstrated dependability, professionalism, and integrity; and a clear commitment to legal services and serving low-income communities.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with computer systems and software used for effective case management and delivery of legal services through telecommunications, internet, and network systems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including effective telephone communication and clear written and oral communication.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative and to maintain the confidential nature of the firm and its practice.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a multi-function office environment.
Preferred Qualifications / Additional Considerations
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience working in a law office or public service setting is a plus.
  • This position requires travel to LAWOโ€™s Defiance office on an as-needed basis; therefore, candidates with a valid driverโ€™s license, a good driving record, and the ability to maintain automobile insurance throughout employment are preferred.
