Job description

Our client, an early-stage, AI-driven commercial real estate insurtech, is building its MGA function and hiring a Head of Underwriting to serve as the firm’s habitational/real estate SME. This is a true builder opportunity for a senior property underwriter to step beyond a traditional carrier environment and help define underwriting strategy, risk appetite, and program structure from the ground up.

You will be hands-on underwriting deals while working directly with the founders to embed underwriting into a data-led, technology-enabled platform, and will play a key role in securing and managing carrier and reinsurance capacity partners.

The ideal profile brings 8+ years of habitational/CRE property underwriting experience within a carrier, including experience building shared and layered programs and contributing to a $100M GWP book that is a minimum of 50% habitational accounts. Strong broker relationships and carrier exposure are critical, along with an interest in working closely with technology to help shape a policy administration platform in its early stages.

This position is best suited for an AVP/VP-level carrier/ MGA underwriter seeking increased responsibility and exposure to the insurtech ecosystem.

This is a remote role with semi-frequent visits to the NYC Headquarters, NYC based, a plus. Compensation and equity, extremely competitive.
