The Department of Economics in the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking applicants for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position beginning August 1, 2027. The selected candidate will be appointed to a full-time 9-month, non-tenure eligible faculty position for an initial two-year period that has the potential for renewal and, for faculty hired at the rank of Lecturer, for promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years. Lecturers contribute to the institution's mission and the vitality of its undergraduate program by providing high-quality instruction and fulfilling department and college service obligations.

Teaching responsibilities total 9 to 12 credit hours per semester (depending on class size). Candidates should have experience teaching, or willingness to teach, large-lecture sections in one or more of the following: Microeconomic Principles, Macroeconomic Principles, and Business Statistics. Additional teaching may include smaller classes in the candidate's field of interest as a lower or upper-division undergraduate course.
Minimum qualifications are: Ph.D. in Economics at beginning of appointment, prior college/university teaching experience, and a demonstrated potential for quality teaching, especially in a large lecture format. Evidence of experience or interest in teaching on-line and distance instruction is valued. Salaries are competitive.
Application Procedure:
In order to be considered a candidate, you will need to complete the following two steps:
1. Submit a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, sample exams and course syllabi, summary of teaching evaluations, job market paper, and three letters of recommendation through the American Economic Association's Job Openings for Economists at https://www.aeaweb.org/joe/listings.
2. Complete an Academic Profile within the University of Kentucky employment system and submit the same materials as step 1 which includes: a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy (submit as Specific Request 1), sample exams and course syllabi (submit as Specific Request 2), summary of teaching evaluations (submit as Specific Request 3), and job market paper (submit as Writing Sample). In addition, please provide the names and contact information for three references when prompted in the academic profile. This information may be used to solicit recommendation letters from your references within the employment system.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will remain open until the position is filled.
