Position:
The Department of Learning Technologies, Design & School Library Media (LTDM) at Towson University seeks a qualified applicant as a non-tenure, ten months Lecturer for the School Library Media program starting in Spring 2024. The LTDM Department offers Ph.D., M.S., and certificate programs in instructional design and development, educational technology, school library media, undergraduate courses in integrating technology in teaching and learning for prospective teachers, and several sections of freshman research seminars.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have administrative or teaching experience (higher education, school-based or district-based) in, or affiliated with, an education program involving School Library Media, Library Science, or a related field. The candidate should also be familiar with digital technologies used in school libraries, including databases, e-learning platforms, digital devices, other technologies, and various teaching methods. The candidate should demonstrate evidence of or potential for successful teaching at higher education and/or training and commitment to providing service, advising, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
• An earned graduate degree in school library media, library science, information science, learning/instructional design and development, curriculum and instruction, or closely related areas.
• Ability to teach courses related to school library media or undergraduate courses in emerging learning technology in education, both face-to-face and online, and supervise student interns in the school library media program.
• Demonstrate interest in researching and enhancing digital literacy experiences, skills, and resources in school library media.
• Knowledge of and experience with learning/instructional design principles, experience in K-12 educational technology initiatives, and a demonstrated commitment to serving diverse and urban student needs.
• Familiarity with computing, computational thinking, and emerging learning technologies, such as artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality.
• Emerging record of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience and commitment to excellence in teaching, education, service, and diversity.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and teach graduate courses in the school library media program and undergraduate courses offered by the Department.
• Provide service, advising, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
• Research and enhance digital literacy experiences, skills, and resources in school library media.
