As a Benefit and Leave Management Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the Human Resources team by assisting with the administration of employee benefits, providing support with leave management (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, Paid Parental Leave) and delivering general HR support. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, eager to learn, and passionate about helping others navigate their employment experience.

DEFINITION:

Under direct supervision of the Chief of Human Resource, the Benefit and Leave Management Coordinator will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, with a primary focus on benefits and leave management (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, Paid Parental Leave) administration. This role is ideal for someone looking to start their career in HR and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This includes supporting employee inquiries, processing benefits-related documentation, maintaining accurate records, helping coordinate open enrollment, and onboarding activities. The role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and a commitment to excellent service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position with at least three years’ HR experience in the last 5 years. An associate’s degree or relevant coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience in an office or administrative setting is considered a plus, and candidates with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources are strongly encouraged to apply.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to learn HRIS systems and processes or possess experience with the Paycom HRIS system.
  • Willingness to learn and understand benefit administration and leave management
     

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the following duties:
 

  • Assist employees with basic benefits-related questions, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Support benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations through the HRIS system.
  • Help coordinate open enrollment and distribute benefits materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee benefits and assist with compliance documentation.
  • Process benefit-related paperwork such as new hire forms, change requests, and termination notices.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure correct benefit deductions.
  • Provide general administrative support alongside the HR team, including filing, data entry, and reporting.
  • Respond to employee questions and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives (e.g., engagement surveys, training).
  • Support payroll processing by confirming benefit selection.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Assist in advising on HR policies and procedures.
  • Participate in various steps in the onboarding and offboarding processes.
