Job description

Do you have a passion for craftsmanship and an expert's touch with a sewing machine? Strategic Support Solutions is seeking a skilled Aircraft Interior Upholsterer & Sewing Specialist to join our dedicated team in Smyrna, TN.


This is a premier opportunity for an experienced aviation professional to create and refurbish luxury aircraft interiors. You will be responsible for producing flawless upholstery, from seats to side panels, that meets the highest standards of quality and FAA regulations. If you are a meticulous artisan with at least two years of experience in the aircraft world, we want to talk to you.


Your Mission: Crafting Excellence


As a key member of our interiors team, you will be responsible for the hands-on creation of beautiful and compliant aircraft cabin components. Your primary duties will include:


  • Precision Sewing & Upholstery: Perform high-quality sewing, stitching, and upholstering of aircraft seats, headliners, side panels, and other interior elements using materials like leather, suede, and high-grade fabrics.
  • Pattern & Material Expertise: Work from patterns, blueprints, and design specifications to cut, prepare, and assemble materials with precision and minimal waste.
  • Industrial Machine Operation: Expertly operate a variety of industrial sewing machines (e.g., single needle, double needle, sergers) to produce durable and aesthetically perfect seams.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work meets and exceeds company quality standards and FAA requirements for materials and construction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the interiors team to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to the customer's exact specifications.


What You Bring to the Table:


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on sewing and upholstery experience in the aviation industry is required.
  • Demonstrated mastery of industrial sewing machines and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of materials used in aircraft interiors, such as leather, vinyl, and various fabrics.
  • An exceptional eye for detail, with a commitment to producing flawless, high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret design specifications and work from patterns.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a Part 145 repair station or an aircraft completions center.
  • Experience with high-end corporate or private jet interiors.
  • Foam fabrication and seat build-up experience is a strong plus.
