Compensation Range: $35.11 - $53.11
  • Compensation is based on experience, with a range reflecting entry-level candidates through those with 15+ years of experience. Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation with applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.

Additional Compensation Differential Opportunities:
  • Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM-7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday-11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hour.
  • Non-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM-7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday-11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hour.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Surgical Services the Certified Scrub Tech provides direct and indirect patient care in the Surgery setting. Communicates with physicians, nurse manager, house supervisor, and co-workers as appropriate needs for surgical procedure. Must respond quickly and accurately to changes environment. Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique.
Surgical technologists combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance.
Assists Purchasing Agent with procurement of items and stock issues in the Materials Management Inventory System (MMIS). Adds items to purchase orders when stock levels fall below minimum levels or forecasted use dictates an increase in quantity.
Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Places orders as appropriate to maintain par levels. Participates in monitoring supply outdates.
Scrubs, gowns and gloves to set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, at the closing of each layer and before the final layer (skin) is closed.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room. Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Care and Documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.
Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Network's Mission, Vision and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited CST program.
  • Current certification required.
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Surgical Services setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Moderate computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Compassion and a desire to help patients.
  • Attention to Detail, observing and accurately reporting issues and findings to the responsible RN.
  • Skill and ability to provide care to the extent defined by competency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with people in close situations, using excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Documentation skills to accurately and appropriately capture the observations noted and treatment provided.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands
