Job Description

The Associate Director International Learning Immunology Gastro  Portfolio is strategic partner to multiple Brand teams across our Gastro new portfolio to assess and understand the learning needs of the organization and develops appropriate learning strategies and plans with their team members. The Associate Director International Learning Immunology Gastro Portfolio is responsible for ensuring that the portfolio strategy for Gastro is effectively represented in all of the learning programs and solutions. They are responsible for creating consistency and leveraging best practices across the Gastro portfolio and other brands in International Learning.   The Associate Director is responsible for the collaboration with International Marketing, Areas, and Affiliates to create learning programs and capability development solutions primarily for new product launches, mature products, promotional or regulatory updates, and new hire training.  They ensure the development of team members in International Learning and foster an inclusive culture.

Primary Responsibilities

Relationship Building/Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure strategic efficiencies and synergies from a portfolio perspective, to maximize the value of our portfolio in the (assigned) disease areas, by designing learning curricula that leverage the portfolio synergies and position AbbVie’s brands for success within the scope of the portfolio.
  • Act as an expert in curriculum development aligned to brand strategy leading a team of direct reports to deliver effective learning solutions for the asset with alignment between cross functional teams, their leadership and area/affiliate partners to ensure needs are met and value is delivered to brands with high impact integrated learning interventions.
  • Align with cross functional leadership through General Manager level across TA to ensure alignment top-down including, but not limited to Training, Medical/ Clinical experts, Marketing, Sales Management, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, other AbbVie Groups and external vendor partners to ensure effective collaboration and optimal planning to meet needs
  • Actively set mutual expectations with business customers and partners to ensure working relationships are constructive and productive.
  • Superior negotiation tactics and experiencing working in an International multi-cultural environment.
  • Must demonstrate a high aptitude for collaboration and translate the needs of Areas/Affiliates into an international strategy.
  • Builds a sense of team within learning organization demonstrated through mutual respect and support of peers and others.
  • Leverages core platforms and content within the specific Brands learning products limiting “reinventing the wheel” as appropriate internationally.
  • Demonstrates direct and open communication within the Learning Team and with all business partners and customers resulting in positive relationships and mutual understanding, respect and agreement.

Strategy Roll-out

  • Must be able to understand, work with team to  execute International Brand strategy through tactical training and development  deliverables.
  • Demonstrates and applies knowledge of all business partners/ customers businesses, strategies, and priorities.
  • Facilitates integration of learning deliverables into business planning and the actual business plans of Brand Teams.
  • Adheres to and links learning solutions to defined brand strategies across all learning deliverables.
  • Seeks innovative solutions to capitalize on business opportunities and further engage the learner.

Learning Leadership

  • Ensures that materials and programs incorporate adult learning principles and instructional design principles.
  • Demonstrates versatility, agility, and flexibility so that obstacles are overcome and expected results are produced.
  • Ensure the quality, compliance, and applicability of the Eyecare portfolio curriculum shared with the affiliate team learning leads.
  • Increases effectiveness of team members through formal and informal development.
  • Participate in and lead International Learning workstreams.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to develop team members, or overall International Learning team performance to better AbbVie.
  • Create and foster an inclusive team environment with an All for One AbbVie spirit.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Education, or relevant job experience in related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of learning and instructional design experience.
  • 10-15  years of combined learning, sales and marketing experience or related cross functional expertise.
  • Experience leading team members directly or in an interim capacity
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and competencies.
  • Experience managing learning curriculums for multiple products and working with portfolio teams
  • Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Experience in Immunology is preferred.

  • Demonstrated success working in a highly matrix environment, ability to work with a variety of individuals at all levels of management--both in the field and in marketing-- to gain consensus on learning program development and delivery.

  • Exceptional stakeholder communication skills, both written and verbal, to develop partnerships and align learning with the business strategy.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and prioritize business needs accordingly.
