GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Peer Learning Program Coordinator collaborates with library faculty and staff, academic faculty, and other campus partners to develop, implement, and coordinate peer tutoring services delivered by the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS) to improve student success and retention. Responsibilities include providing strategic direction and management for CLASS in collaboration with the Health Sciences Student Success Librarian and Dean of Libraries and Academic Innovation, supervising and delivering training for undergraduate peer tutors, and building partnerships with academic student support services across the university. This position reports to the Dean of Libraries and Academic Innovation, is a member of the Library Faculty, and works as a library team member in a rapidly changing, technology-rich environment. Library faculty members are expected to engage in university and professional service, as well as relevant scholarly activities that advance personal and institutional practice. This is an 11-month annual contract on an extended-term track appointment.Β
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary coordinator for the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS), advancing equitable, strengths-based student learning support and services that promote academic success for all students.
- Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate peer tutors, providing ongoing training and development in evidence-informed teaching, learning, and tutoring practices.
- Coordinate the ongoing development and improvement of CLASS programming in collaboration with the Health Sciences Student Success Librarian to support student engagement, persistence, and academic success.
- Collaborate with divisional faculty to develop and align peer learning support services and programming with course learning outcomes and instructional goals.
- Collaborate with the academic support staff and divisional faculty to contribute to instruction, workshops, and online learning resources that support undergraduate students' academic skill development and success.
- Collect and analyze CLASS data and student learning outcomes to inform continuous improvement of services.
- Conduct outreach to undergraduate students, divisional faculty, and campus partners to promote awareness and utilization of CLASS services.
- Coordinate administrative functions of CLASS, including budget monitoring, communications, data reporting, and other operational activities that support the delivery of student services.
- Administer the CLASS tutoring management system as the primary point of contact, collaborating with the Health Sciences Student Success Librarian to ensure effective system maintenance and operations that support student access to tutoring services.
- Represent CLASS in campus partnerships, student success initiatives, and relevant library and campus committees, contributing to university efforts that support student engagement, persistence, and academic success.
- Participate in collaborative efforts within the Libraries to advance equitable student services that are responsive to the academic needs of students from diverse backgrounds, with particular emphasis on early-stage undergraduates, transfer students, and nontraditional students.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of a library faculty member by participating in shared governance, university and professional service, and scholarly/creative activities that inform the duties of this position.
- Perform other duties as needed/required.
JOB SCOPE:
The Peer Learning Program Coordinator is responsible for leading the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS) in collaboration with the Health Sciences Student Success Librarian. This includes direct management, supervision, and development of all undergraduate services and programming for CLASS, and assessment of all CLASS services. This position works closely with theΒ Health Sciences Student Success Librarian, who is responsible for the supervision and training of graduate and professional-level peer tutors in CLASS. This position is based on the Forest Grove Campus.Β
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:This position is responsible for the hiring, supervision, and scheduling of undergraduate-level student employees for CLASS.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Master's Degree or higher in education, teaching, or learning sciences; or Masterβs Degree or higher in another field plus a least one year of experience working in academic support programs.
- Demonstrated experience with providing training and/or instruction for adult learners, or equivalent activities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Ability to apply teaching and learning principles and evidence-informed practices to design and deliver instruction and training across multiple modalities.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and strengths-based approaches to supporting student success.

- Understanding of assessment practices, including the ability to collect and use data to evaluate services and inform continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of factors that contribute to student persistence, retention, and academic success.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to adapt communication styles to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in team environments, including flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to diverse perspectives and needs.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
- Proficiency with educational technology, learning management systems, and online collaboration tools.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for peer academic support programs.
- Experience using Accudemia or equivalent tutoring center management systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Academic library environment, working in public areas and in an office environment. This position is primarily on-site, with potential for a hybrid arrangement based on candidate experience and performance. Primarily sedentary work that requires sitting and using a computer. This job is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Faculty, exempt, non-tenure-track, full-time, year-round (11-month) contract. Faculty rank (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor) is negotiable.
