About Voyis:

Voyis designs and manufactures high performance underwater optical sensors (lasers, cameras, lights) for underwater vehicles that expand capability and enhance understanding in underwater surveys and exploration. Our products have enabled our customers to survey more than 10,000km of ocean floor across all 7 continents, helping people better understand those remote, challenging environments.

Our mission is to push the limits of what’s possible subsea and enable every underwater vehicle to see the depths like we see the surface. All our products are proudly designed and built in Waterloo.

Role: Product Manager

Salary Range: $100,000-150,000

What you’ll do: 

As a Product Manager at Voyis you will be directly involved in all aspects of the product that we offer spanning roadmap management, product definition & configuration management, and collaboration with technical and commercial teams. This multifaceted role is ideal for candidates that want to have broad ownership for evolving our current product lineup, improve our product management processes, and supporting the vision and strategy for Voyis. Our products have technical complexity including optics, embedded compute, rugged hardware and reliable industrial instrumentation software for control and processing – and all of this in a challenging, harsh environment (up to 20,000 ft below the sea!) 

We are looking for someone with strong product management experience, and a solid technical foundation in both hardware and software fields, has an eager to bring their energy and expertise for developing advanced robotics and sensor systems. Our customer base ranges scientific, industrial, and defense users with a range of priorities and challenges. This role will be an opportunity to expand your capabilities while engaging with leaders in the field of subsea robotics and become an expert in underwater sensors.

 

This is a primarily in-person role at our headquarters in Waterloo. Some travel will be required to visit customer and industry tradeshows.

Specific responsibilities include: 

  •          Manage the product roadmap across software and hardware, in collaboration with leadership team, aligning to Voyis strategy
  •          Define new product and feature requirements and work with engineering to understand limitations and delivery timelines
  •          Define and communicate product configurations, versions, documentation, and roadmap to the wider organization and customers, as appropriate
  •          Own product lifecycle management and the rollout of product changes to organizational stakeholders and customers
  •          Support sales and marketing with product value definition, articles & blogs, and presentations.
  •          Engage with customers and monitor industry trends to understand the market and competitor landscape. Use these insights to guide development priorities and marketing strategies.

Core Competencies: 

  •          4+ years of proven track record as Product Manager in a technical field, ideally at a small or scaling organization
  •          Demonstrated project management & organizational skills, adept at prioritizing tasks to maximize impact (both for yourself and in determining roadmap delivery)
  •          Technical knowledge of software/firmware, electrical & embedded, and mechanical system for the development of high-performance subsea sensor products
  •          Proven ability to distill complicated technical information into clear and digestible content for customers and other stakeholders.
  •          Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to coordinate and collaborate across teams.
  •          Enthusiastic about using cutting edge technology to develop products for a challenging environment and niche market segment.

 Bonus Points for: 

  •          Familiarity with subsea survey or exploration, offshore operations, or maritime industry
  •          Knowledge of industrial optical or vision systems, or rugged embedded/compute systems.
  •          Experience working with industrial and/or defence customers
  •          Familiar with data as a deliverable and data processing knowledge: Image processing, 3D modelling, point clouds, photogrammetry
