  • Review service tickets for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
  • Monitor technician productivity, callbacks, and overall service quality.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop technicians through hands-on training and accountability.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnoses, recommendations, scheduling, and project updates.
  • Assist in estimating repairs and identifying additional customer needs.
  • Work closely with company leadership to improve processes, efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Occasionally perform field service work on advanced troubleshooting or critical customer situations.

What We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proven leadership experience or a strong desire to lead and develop others.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using service management software.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of commercial HVACR experience.
  • Experience with restaurant equipment is a major plus.
  • Experience supervising technicians or managing service operations.
  • EPA Universal Certification.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and service agreements.

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate will build a service department that is known for:

  • Outstanding customer service
  • Accurate diagnostics
  • High first-time fix rates
  • Minimal callbacks
  • Strong technician development
  • Efficient scheduling and dispatch
  • Safe work practices
  • Consistent profitability

Why Grindstone?

We're building something special. Our goal isn't simply to become bigger—it's to become the best commercial HVACR service company in our market.

You'll have the opportunity to

  • Help shape the future of a growing company.
  • Build systems and processes that make a lasting impact.
  • Lead a team of skilled professionals.
  • Be part of a culture built on honesty, craftsmanship, continuous learning, and exceptional customer service.
