Quality Assurance Technician (2nd Shift, Full-Time)

$22.00-$28.00/hour + $1.50/hour Shift Premium

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 2:00pm-12:00am


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Technician carries out tasks as part of the Quality team in support of JARP Operations and related to the ISO 9001 certified aspects of the JARP Industries Business Management System (BMS).


Frequent and direct interaction with interested parties such as JARP employees, customers and suppliers is regularly required, along with communication across the business. The Quality Technician will support the Operations team in producing quality results by managing and refining calibrated tooling and equipment, providing monitoring, measurement and analysis services where required, and assist the business in driving improvement methodologies.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Creation, review, development and completion of processes, procedures, instructions, forms and other documents related to JARP's verification and inspection processes.

2. Primary responsibility for the maintenance, development and use of JARP's calibrated tooling program (including calibration, repair, purchase and documentation).

3. Support Operations in the verification of products and processes.

4. Support the Supply Chain team in the development of Suppliers through product analysis, corrective and preventive actions and other related tasks.

5. Support of Root Cause Analysis for instances of nonconformance with supplied or JARP produced products and services.

6. Assist with returned / nonconforming product and material as part of JARP's Warranty Evaluation process as required.

7. Day-to-day responsibility in following and improving the ISO 9001 certified aspects of the JARP Industries BMS under the strategic guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager.

8. Tactical responsibility for following JARP's internal QMS audit program as a member of the Quality team.

9. Shared team responsibility for the contribution to JARP's Quality metrics including (but not limited to) internal and external success rate, Nonconformance's, Corrective & Preventive Actions, Customer Complaints, and Cost of Quality.

10. Support in the development, implementation and training of JARP's Quality and Improvement methodologies where required.

11. Occasionally assist with the completion of Quality Engineer duties as required.

12. Assist in the development and execution of JARP's Quality strategies as part of the Quality team.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Four (4) years minimum cumulative experience in similar or related roles, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment (e.g. Quality Technician, Calibration Technician, Warranty Technician, Machinist, etc.).

2. Two (2) year associate degree in a suitable discipline is desirable but is not a requirement. (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, etc.).

3. Experience with leadership of small teams is desirable but is not a requirement.


Proven knowledge and experience of an equivalent nature will be considered in place of the educational requirements.


LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

ASQ certification is highly desirable (e.g. CQT, CQA, CQPA, CCT, etc.)


JARP is willing to support the development of its employees, and would cover fees associated with the below ASQ Certifications upon hire:

Certified Quality Technician

Certified Calibration Technician


Further areas of study that would be desirable are:

Certified Process Analyst

Six Sigma (Yellow / Green belt)

Certified Quality Engineer


Other certifications held by the individual will be reviewed for suitability towards successfully performing the role.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

It is essential that the person in this position can demonstrate the following skills:

1. Excellent technical drawing and blueprint interpretation skills.

2. Good strategic abilities - can understand situations quickly and carry out suitable measures and countermeasures.

3. Strong team working abilities; will not dismiss or rebuff others and can demonstrate the capability to agree or disagree constructively when necessary.

4. Good negotiation skills and the ability to resolve issues by identifying effective courses of action.

5. Goal-oriented, with the ability to self-prioritize effectively.

6. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and businesses; machining, welding, etc.

7. Solid and logical organizational & planning capabilities.

8. Strong learning capability.

9. First class communication skills, with the ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the business.

10. Excellent writing, reading, oral and technical presentation skills.

11. Excellent computer literacy, including the ability to adapt quickly to new software, technology and similar.

1. QMS Auditor

2. Working knowledge of mechanical and / or hydraulic systems

3. Technical writing

4. Non Destructive Testing (NDT) qualifications, experience or knowledge

5. Welding qualifications, experience or knowledge
